Investigation under way after shooting at Scientific Services lab in Athlone

The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate has temporarily closed its Scientific Services laboratories in Athlone after a shooting incident took place on site earlier today, Monday, 28 March 2022. This matter is currently being investigated.

The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate was notified of a shooting that took place at its Scientific Service laboratories in Athlone. Two staff members have been shot and wounded. No further information is available at this stage.

The incident has been reported to the South African Police Services who is investigating the matter. The City will assist SAPS with the investigation as needed during this time.
